Due to high levels in the following recycled water storages as well as reduced irrigation demand, we have started releasing Class C treated recycled water.
The recycled water release will be in accordance with our procedures. Releasing excess treated recycled water from storages reduces any potential for uncontrolled overflows and helps to protect infrastructure.
Class C Water is treated recycled water typically used to irrigate racetracks, golf courses, vineyards and recreational reserves.
We have liaised with the relevant catchment management authorities and have notified the Environment Protection Authority Victoria.
We have developed a water quality monitoring program and will be recording the discharge volume on a daily basis to ensure releases have minimal impacts. Water samples will be taken throughout the release period to monitor water quality.
