GWMWater currently operates 25 sewerage systems in 24 separate towns, two being in Kaniva. All are lagoon systems with the exception of Ararat, Dimboola, Horsham, Nhill, St Arnaud, Stawell and Warracknabeal, which have mechanical components to them. We use water everyday at home and in industry. In a sewered town, once the water is used, we dispose of it through a reticulated sewerage system that treats the water at a wastewater treatment plant. Homes in unsewered towns use a septic tank system that treats the wastewater on site. Your local council regulates septic tanks. New sewerage schemes will be constructed in the towns of Great Western, Lake Bolac and Rupanyup as part of GWMWater's 2008-13 capital works program. You may also be interested in trade waste.
