What are Stage 4 water restrictions?

Exemptions to Stage 4 Water Restrictions

GWMWater has granted an exemption under the Water Restrictions By-Law to residents on Stage 4 Water Restrictions to allow watering of plants and shrubs by:
>   a bucket or watering can at any time
>   a dripper system (automatic or manual) between 6pm and 7pm on watering days* OR a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle between 6pm and 7pm on watering days*

Lawn areas are not to be watered at any time.
No restrictions apply to stock watering or crop spraying

  Even street numbers or rural property numbers on Saturday and Tuesday
>  Odd street numbers or rural property numbers on Sunday and Wednesday
>  No street number or rural property number water on Saturday and Tuesday
>  Watering is not permitted (except by bucket or watering can) on Monday, Thursday and Friday  


GWMWater may grant an exemption to any individual or group who can demonstrate that they will suffer undue hardship or difficulty as a result of staged water restrictions. Applications are to be made in writing addressed to the GWMWater, Water Restrictions Assessment Panel, PO Box 481, Horsham 3402.


Permanent Water Saving Rules

Towns under permanant water saving rules
Apsley, Buangor, Cowangie, Elmhurst, Goroke, Kaniva, Kiata,
Lake Bolac, Lillimur, Miram, Moyston, Murrayville, Nhill,
Serviceton, Wickliffe and Willaura

All Victorian towns, where not on staged water restrictions, are subject to the following Permanent Water Saving Rules:

  • Automatic watering systems may only be used between 10pm and 10am daily.
  • Manual watering systems may only be used between 8pm and 10am daily.
  • Only use hoses fitted with a trigger shut off nozzle.
  • No hosing of paved areas.
  • Make an application to GWMWater to fill a new pool or spa.

The Victorian Government implemented these rules to encourage ongoing water conservation and provide long-term water savings benefits to the community.
