Completion of the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline Project will change the way some of the bulk water supply reservoirs and other in-stream assets that service the region's existing water distribution system will operate. In August 2007, GWMWater released a series of Discussion Papers outlining the proposed operating scenarios for the assests that currently support the region's existing water distribution system following the completion of the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline. A series of community information sessions throughout the region provided further information on the proposed scenarios. More than 180 people attended these sessions. The community and key stakeholders took a keen interest in the reservoir review, and GWMWater received 165 submissions. A Reservoir Review Stakeholder Working Group reviewed these submissions and made a final recommendation to the Board of GWMWater who has signed off on the 32 preferred operating scenarios. Individual management plans for each facility are progressively being developed in conjunction with working groups with appropriate stakeholder representatives. Public comment is sought on each plan prior to finalisation. Plans currently being developed are:
