Taylors Lake Facilities Plan November 2009
Taylors Lake Future Use Plan

Reservoir review

Completion of the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline Project will change the way some of the bulk water supply reservoirs and other in-stream assets that service the region's existing water distribution system will operate.

GWMWater has initiated an extensive consultation process to ensure that community views on the proposed future operating scenarios for these assets are taken into consideration.

In August 2007, GWMWater released a series of Discussion Papers outlining the proposed operating scenarios for the assests that currently support the region's existing water distribution system following the completion of the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline.

A series of community information sessions throughout the region provided further information on the proposed scenarios. More than 180 people attended these sessions.

The community and key stakeholders took a keen interest in the reservoir review, and GWMWater received 165 submissions. A Reservoir Review Stakeholder Working Group reviewed these submissions and made a final recommendation to the Board of GWMWater who has signed off on the 32 preferred operating scenarios.

Individual management plans for each facility are progressively being developed in conjunction with working groups with appropriate stakeholder representatives. Public comment is sought on each plan prior to finalisation.

Plans currently being developed are:

Taylors Lake
> management plan - completed

Lake Batyo Catyo/Rich Avon Weir
>  working group established with first meeting held on 13 October 2009
>  management plan expected to be completed in mid 2010
