Irrigation

Irrigation supplies of 13,000 ML/annum to 3,000 hectares around Horsham and Murtoa has been another significant rural activity for GWMWater. This activity has been severely impacted by prolonged drought and historically low bulk water supply reservoir levels over the last decade.

The Wimmera Irrigators and Diverters Consultative Committee provides an important link between the corporation and the regions irrigators and diverters. The group is continuing to work closely with GWMWater to explore a range of options for the future of irrigation in the region, including the possible closure of the Wimmera Irrigation Area.
